The Maine Coast Economic Alliance was established in 2005 as the Knox Waldo Regional Economic Development Council (KWRED). A private/public sector partnership, the Alliance is committed to promoting responsible and sustainable development in Maine’s Coastal Mountain region. The Alliance works in concert with its partner organizations as well at state and federal agencies to advance economic prosperity for this region, while protecting its uniquely amazing quality of life. Friends of Midcoast Maine (FMM) is a regional smart growth organization serving communities and citizens from Brunswick to Bucksport. FMM works to build sustainable communities by making linkages between communities, businesses, natural resources and open spaces, transportation, working waterfronts, affordable housing, energy, downtowns and village centers, historic assets and people and working to fully engage all citizens and build consensus in these efforts.
