CAMDEN: Popular online travel advice website TripAdvisor has named Camden as one of the top ten most charming small towns in America.

Camden enters the list at number 8, joining the other iconic American communities of Carmel CA, Traverse City MI, Charlottesville VA, Telluride CO, Cape May NJ, Fredricksburg TX, Rockport MA, Ashland OR, and Galena IL.

This is just the latest in a string of honors bestowed on local communities in recent years. Variously Lincolnville has been honored as one of Outside Magazine's Best Towns; Belfast and Rockland both made the cut in consecutive years as among Budget Travel's coolest small towns in America; Rockland was recognized as a top adventure town by National Geographic Traveler and has become a familiar destination for the Food Network; Rockport was dubbed one of America's prettiest towns by Forbes; while Camden has been declared the best Main Street in New England by Boston Magazine, the prettiest harbor in Maine by the readers of Down East, one of New England's top 25 foliage towns by Yankee, and used by Microsoft's Bing search engine home page as the iconic representation of fall in New England.

Camden-Rockport-Lincolnville Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Dan Bookham noted that it is wonderful that these honors keep accumulating to the region, saying "What these national opinion leaders and trend spotters see in our area speaks to the magic recipe that makes living, working, and visiting here so special: our quality of life, our quality of people, and our quality of place."
